A spacious and classic three bedroom apartment in Dorsoduro, overlooking one of the best 'calles' in Venice for well-recommended 'local' restaurants - moments to the picturesque Church and Campo San Barnaba and the Ca' Rezzonico Museum of 18th Century Art on the Grand Canal at one end, the Church of San Sebastiano (a masterpiece of Veronese paintings) and the sleepy western parishes at the other and the vibrant and flourishing Campo Santa Margherita and the Scuola Grande Dei Carmini lying in between.

Recently transformed with taste, care and attention to detail into a welcoming haven of user-friendliness and quiet Venetian elegance, the charmingly named Ca' Ai Putti (House of Cherubs) cossets six guests in peaceful accommodation on the first floor of the property and has two portable air-conditioning units for use in warmer weather. There's a large and beautifully decorated main living/dining room where polished parquet flooring, tall wooden beamed ceilings and characterful Venetian gothic windows provide a fittingly traditional backdrop to period furnishings, ample leather seating and period-style wall coverings.

The kitchen/breakfast room is modern, freshly appointed and well-equipped while all three double bedrooms are bright and immaculately presented in expertly co-ordinated 'Rococo' style, each in different colourways and all with wooden flooring, Murano glass chandeliers, luxurious soft furnishings and attractive wall coverings - a softly romantic coral pink and ivory master bedroom with double bed, armoire and tall windows overlooking the calle to the front, a second bedroom in ivory and a sunny buttercup yellow (also with a double bed and plentiful storage) to the rear of the apartment and a third with twin beds in a restful duck egg blue, also to the rear. The two bathrooms lie next to to the yellow and blue bedrooms to the centre of the property - one with a shower and a washing machine and the other with a bathtub.

Within easy reach of the Accademia Bridge/Academy of Fine Arts and the spectacular sunsets of the Zattere waterfront, within minutes of the Ca' Rezzonico vaporetto stop and the San Samuele Traghetto gondola ferry on the Grand Canal (with no bridges to cross in between!) and merely moments away from a fantastic assortment of great osterie/restaurants dotted along the calle - take your pick from 'Osteria San Barnaba', the 'no fish' dishes and San Daniele ham specialities of  'La Bitta' and 'Pane, Vino e San Daniele' respectively, the seafood menus of 'Furatola' and 'Quatro Feri' (a very firm favourite!) and the mixed menus of 'Oniga' and 'Casin Dei Nobili' closer to the campo.

Also within a stone's throw of the designer-style restaurant 'Avogaria' with its Puglian influenced cuisine, 'Locanda Montin' - one of Venice's best loved restaurants and its gloriously lush garden and slightly bohemian, art-filled interior and the tiny but hugely enjoyable 'Enoteca Ai Artisti' fringing the nearby 'Toletta' Canal.

OUR COMMENT

A highly convenient and good value choice for a grown up family or group of friends who value comfort, elegance, accessibility (and great food!) in equal measure.

Close to a wonderful variety of shops making self-catering a complete joy including the gourmet produce of 'Pantagruelica' and sweet temptations of patisserie 'Colussi' and gelataria 'GROM', a 'Punto' Supermarket for all your necessities and the much-photographed fruit and vegetable barge moored on the canal at San Barnaba ... and on your way 'home', enjoy a tea or refreshing spritz surrounded by leafy jasmine and wisteria within the delightful oriental garden of the Fujiyama 'Beatrice' tea room just along the calle - a calm and soothingly verdant surprise within the ancient city alleyways.
