A dreamy and delectable 'Piano Nobile' apartment within the 16th Century Palazzo Tiepolo Passi on the Grand Canal, with private water entrance and fabulous views. Majestically situated next door to the striking pink Gothic Palazzo Pisani Moretta (venue of many a society ball and banquet!) in between Ca' Foscari / San Toma and the Rialto Bridge in the San Polo district of the city.
Delicate and ethereal in beauty, 'other worldly' in atmosphere and owned by the aristocratic Passi family whose origins extend all the way back to the 10th Century, the apartment is a bright, uplifting and exceptionally well-preserved masterpiece of Venetian architecture brimming with a virtual treasure trove of cherished family heirlooms including rare objets d'art and fine diaphanous fabrics, all displayed with a lightness of touch against walls of paintings and pale pastel stucco work, terrazzo and parquet flooring and gorgeous antique furniture.
On the second floor and promising an idyllic sojourn of blissful luxury, Ca' Gondola Piano Nobile offers extensive and flexible reception space combined with charming bedrooms sleeping up to five guests who may enter the Palazzo either alighting directly at the Palazzo's private water entrance on the Grand Canal by private water taxi (highly recommended for ease, comfort and style!) or via the owners' beautiful private courtyard garden to the rear of the property.
On arrival at the apartment, guests enter an impressive formal reception hallway with tall beamed ceilings and a grand piano which in turn leads to a study (a bookworm's paradise with internet connection) to the rear and a totally ravishing main salon with tall arched french windows opening onto a splendid full length balcony over the Grand Canal to the front. To one side of the salon is a second beautiful sitting room and to the other, a grandly decorated formal dining room for indulgent dinners and lazy lunches - both rooms divine and both with Grand Canal views.
To the rear of the dining room there's a dainty and very cosy landing area in which to relax, a bathroom with a bathtub and, a little further on, the kitchen - solidly Venetian in style, marvellously equipped by its talented owner (an accomplished culinary expert with a long-held passion for fine hospitality) and featuring a modern double oven 'range' style cooker, a super collection of antique wall-mounted copper moulds and a freestanding kitchen worktable allowing plenty of 'elbow room' for following those authentic Italian recipes to the letter or experimenting as you go along. The apartment also has a laundry room with washing machine and tumble dryer.
Sleeping accommodation comprises three exquisitely furnished bedrooms - a spacious and elegant air conditioned double bedroom with floral touches, a small balcony, a double bed (which can be made into twins - please ask when booking), its own connecting air-conditioned private sitting room with comfy armchairs and TV plus a modern en suite bathroom with bathtub and separate shower, a further double bedroom decorated in similar fashion (again with a double bed which can be made into twins) and an en suite bathroom with shower and a pretty blue-and-white themed single bedroom.
Rental price includes GAS, ELECTRICITY, LINEN and FINAL CLEANING
OUR COMMENT
A perfectly delicious Grand Canal apartment to take your breath away and particularly well situated.....
close to Campo San Polo, the 14th Century Church of the Frari, the Scuola Grande Di San Rocco with its glorious Tintoretto's and roughly equidistant to the Rialto in the north (home to the world-renowned fish, fruit and vegetable markets) and to the Dorsoduro district in the south (with its wide 'fondamente', antique shops and galleries).
Only steps away from the San Toma 'Traghetto' which you can watch from your windows (hence the name of the apartment!) and which, during operating times, ferries passengers by gondola across the Grand Canal to the district of San Marco.
