A truly exceptional apartment - jaw-droppingly flamboyant, theatrical and offering one-of-a-kind accommodation for four, discreetly tucked away just off Venice's largest and one of its most beautiful campos, Campo San Polo.
Designed, decorated and furnished with the utmost originality, confidence, pizzazz and above all, great taste, Ca' Del Santo is on the third floor and is entered by way of the palazzo's internal courtyard garden - a peaceful little sanctuary of greenery and climbing foliage, at the centre of which is a traditional Venetian 'vera da pozzo' well-head which would have stored water for the palazzo in centuries past.
On arriving at the apartment, guests enter the beamed library-hallway - a richly characterful room of classically decorated wood panelling, terrazzo flooring and subdued lighting which in turn leads to the spacious sitting room with tall arched windows overlooking the Rio di San Polo canal and the small waterside terrace of the highly exclusive and Michelin-starred restaurant, 'Da Fiore'.
Magnificently decorated with whimsical touches and luxuriously furnished in bohemian velvet and avant-garde leopard print, the centrepiece of the sitting room is undoubtedly the wonderful contemporary Murano glass chandelier, an eye-catching counterpoint to the more traditional aspects of the room. In contrast, the dining room is furnished in cool, sophisticated shades of ivory and has a feature fireplace (for decorative purposes only) plus a grand, classical-style stone 'portico' with decorative urns leading to the apartment's well-equipped kitchen.
There are two bedrooms. An opulent teal blue master bedroom (perhaps best described as a 'master suite'), characteristically Venetian in style and layout and incorporating a spacious sitting area with tall windows, comfy sofas, kilim floor cushions and a finely decorated blue and gold alcove with a sumptuous double bed - pure decadence! The second bedroom offers plenty of light and space, a double bed, terrazzo flooring, plus an open-tread staircase with small mezzanine over, beneath which is a walk-in wardrobe offering extra storage.
En suite to the bedrooms are the bathrooms - one incorporating impressive ashlar stonework and featuring a bathtub, marble vanity basin, gold fittings and elaborately patterned terrazzo flooring (accessible from both bedrooms) and another which is simpler in style, more compact and has a shower. The apartment also has wireless internet connection and a laundry room on the ground floor (with washing machine and tumble dryer) for added convenience, plus air-conditioning (except in the sitting room) and a small sauna just off the master bedroom for increased comfort and well-being.

A magical property - expertly renovated with great passion and style and full of intriguing little touches which are certain to delight its guests. Close to shops, bars, cafes and within minutes of some excellent local restaurants, including 'Da Fiore' (2 minutes walk), 'Antiche Carampane' (an easy stroll), the traditional 'Da Ignazio' with its pergola-canopied courtyard (on nearby Calle Dei Saoneri) and the umbrella shaded alfresco dining at ex-brewery 'Birreria La Corte' just within the campo.
An excellent base for visiting the Rialto Bridge and market area as well as the famous sights within the neighbouring districts of Dorsoduro, Santa Croce and San Marco (the latter by crossing the Grand Canal by 'Traghetto' Gondola Ferry at nearby San Toma or San Silvestro - please check operating times).
