A fab 'n' funky open plan apartment for five in an antique palazzo in a wonderfully prominent position, directly overlooking Venice's largest and one of its most attractive palazzo-fringed campos, Campo San Polo - enjoying tons of light and space as well as charming views onto the small and peaceful 'Rio Della Madonnetta' canal to the rear.
Super-convenient for reaching the Rialto Bridge and market area as well as the famous sights within the neighbouring districts of Dorsoduro, Santa Croce and San Marco (the latter by crossing the Grand Canal by 'Traghetto' Gondola Ferry* at nearby San Toma or San Silvestro), the apartment is on the first floor and is furnished in a delightfully quirky, slightly retro and highly individual manner resulting in a contemporary style which marries exceptionally well with the traditional framework of the building.
It has a private entrance leading to a large, bright and beautifully airy main living area with five large windows overlooking the campo. This main room has high beamed ceilings, cool polished Venetian terrazzo flooring and is lit by a combination of modern halogen lighting, beautiful Murano glass chandeliers and wall-mounted up-lighters when the abundant light starts to fade at the end of the day. Its sitting area has comfortable 50's retro-style seating, an iconic 'Le Corbusier' style cow hide chaise, modular style units and internet connection while the well-equipped kitchen and dining areas just off this area are smart, uncluttered and boldly accented with vivid shades of chinese lacquer red - a warm and optimistic colour tone which contrasts well against the apartment's cool whitewashed walls and slightly minimalist appeal.
All three bedrooms are roomy, comfortable and have terrazzo flooring, antique furnishings and AMAZING wooden beds, the like of which I can almost guarantee you won't have at home! Two of the bedrooms have twin beds and the third a single, while the two bathrooms (one with a shower and the other with 'his and hers' wash basins and bathtub) are up- to-date and equipped with modern fittings.

OUR COMMENT
Light, space and contemporary styling in a popular area with excellent facilities very close at hand including shops, bars, cafes and two supermarkets (a small 'Coop' near Sant' Aponal and a 'Billa' near the Frari).
Within minutes of some excellent local restaurants, including the famous and very exclusive 'Da Fiore' (2 minutes walk), the traditional 'Da Ignazio' with its pergola-canopied courtyard (on nearby Calle Dei Saoneri) and the umbrella shaded alfresco dining at ex-brewery 'Birreria La Corte' (just at the 'top' of the Campo).
Or make your way towards the fine Venetian cooking of 'Antiche Carampane' by crossing the tiny bridge to the rear of the apartment and following the narrow, silent and winding alleyways deep into the ancient 'Carampane' district - a hushed and atmospheric neighbourhood, perfect for a spot of exploring by all 'would-be' Venetian time-travellers and setting for one of the opening scenes in the highly entertaining 2005 BBC TV drama portrayal of the life of legendary Venetian 'Casanova', starring David Tennant.
