It has a long and varied history as you’d expect from a palazzo which was the birthplace of not one but two ancient Doges of Venice – Leonardo Loredan (1501-21) and Francesco Loredan (1752-62)…If only walls could talk!

The delightful local neighbourhood around Campo San Barnaba (location of a number of well known film scenes – think ‘Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade’ and ‘Summertime’) is a joy to explore with its bars, restaurants (several along Calle Lunga San Barnaba), craftshops and food shops (including the long-established fruit and vegetable boat moored on the canal).
