A delightful little ‘bijou’ apartment on the ground floor of an impressive 15th Century Grand Canal Palazzo in the Dorsoduro area with private water access.
An excellent choice for couples or small families wishing to enjoy the full experience of staying right on the Grand Canal without breaking the bank. The apartment is bright and cheerful with wonderful views of the Grand Canal.
It comprises a living/dining room with a sofa and extra sofa bed providing plenty of comfortable seating plus a dining table and chairs, a completely furnished kitchenette just off this main room, a double bedroom at the back with king size bed and walk-in mirrored wardrobe and a bathroom with bathtub (accessible separately from both the main room and bedroom for added convenience).
The Palazzo Loredan Dell’Ambasciatore, in which the apartment is located, is one of the finest palazzi in Venice and is in a fabulous position on the Grand Canal situated between the Accademia Bridge/Academy of Fine Arts and Ca’ Rezzonico Museum of 18th Century Art. It has a long and varied history as you’d expect from a palazzo which was the birthplace of not one but two ancient Doges of Venice – Leonardo Loredan (1501-21) and Francesco Loredan (1752-62)……If only walls could talk!
The charming local neighbourhood around Campo San Barnaba (location of a number of well known film scenes – think ‘Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade’ and ‘Summertime’) is a joy to explore with its bars, restaurants (several along Calle Lunga San Barnaba), craftshops and food shops (including the long-established fruit and vegetable boat moored on the canal).
Are you a part of a larger group who'd like to stay close together at the Palazzo? Other apartments available at this prestigious property (which played host to the New Zealand National Pavilion at the 54th Venice Art Biennale) include Ca' Cerchieri 1, Ca' Cerchieri Mezzanine, Ca' Cerchieri Terrace and the spectacular Ca' Cerchieri Piano Nobile.

OUR COMMENT
A very desirable little Grand Canal apartment located in one of the loveliest areas of Venice – away from the tourist bustle yet with lots to see and do right on the doorstep. Also close to the Palazzo Grassi museum of modern art and the Ca’ Rezzonico vaporetto stop.
