A bright and modern first floor apartment on a quintessential Venetian canal directly opposite the Church and Campo of Santa Maria Formosa. On a popular route for singing gondoliers and in an ideal spot for exploring the city with calles radiating from the Campo into Cannaregio, San Marco and deeper into the district of Castello.

Ca’ Delle Bande (named after the neighbouring bridge of the same name  - thought to be the first in Venice to have parapets or ‘bande’ as they were known), offers guests light, space and super views with all its main rooms overlooking the canal.

Comfortable, fresh and newly restored, it has a nicely furnished living/dining room and a well-equipped kitchen, both with the same great canal views enjoyed by its appealing double bedroom and second bedroom with twin beds (this can be made into a double bed – simply ask when booking). There are two bathrooms, one with bathtub and shower and the other with shower en-suite to the master bedroom.

Within a few minutes walk of St. Mark’s Square and the Rialto Bridge with only one small bridge to cross from the apartment to each of these destinations, Ca’ Delle Bande lies close to the Fondazione Querini Stampalia Museum and just off the Salizada San Lio - a bustling little street of neighbourhood shops and restaurants, including another of Venice’s finest gelatarie, the excellent ‘La Boutique del Gelato’.

Steps away from the local Coop supermarket for easy self-catering and, when you’re not in cooking mode, the tiny ‘Alle Testiere’ (widely considered to be one of the best seafood restaurants in the entire city), and the (also tiny) and very popular ‘Cip-Ciap’ for excellent made-to-order takeaway pizza.

OUR COMMENT

An attractive and comfortable apartment in a central location full of history and atmosphere. Take a step back in time along the nearby ‘Calle del Paradiso’ with its ancient timber eaves (‘barbacani’) and triangular stone archway – a delicate 15th Century masterpiece depicting a Madonna which faces a house where Vivaldi once lived.
