Accommodation
Description
'Practically perfect in every way!' - a truly scrumptious canal side retreat, newly decked out and just right for four, directly overlooking one of the most-photographed and charming locations in Dorsoduro - the historic Squero di San Trovaso (founded in the 17th Century and the oldest of only a tiny handful of working gondola boatyards still left in Venice today, where skilled local artisans continue to craft, maintain and repair gondolas by hand using century old methods).
Enviably positioned on the mezzanine floor and with eye-line views over the Church of San Trovaso and to the junction of the Rio dei Ognissanti and the Rio de San Trovaso canals, the apartment has a main entrance hallway leading on one side into an elegant living/dining room where two windows look onto the water and where the attractive sheen of burnished white Marmorino walls works like a charm in highlighting the warmth and cosiness of its exposed beams and polished wooden flooring.
On the opposite side of the hallway is a well thought out kitchen/breakfast room seating four, newly fitted and fully equipped with dishwasher and all necessary appliances. The two bedrooms are matching in their stylishly co-ordinated furnishings, beams and wooden flooring - a master with double bed and canal views to the front and a second bedroom with twins beds just to the rear - while the re-modelled bathroom in between is modern, tiled and has a shower.
Adding to the long list of things we like are wireless internet connection, air-conditioning in all rooms (except the bathroom) and a washing machine - everything, in fact, to make your stay a superior one!
OUR COMMENT
A delightful apartment with excellent facilities in a truly privileged position.
Close to the well-known ‘Cantinone Gia Schiavi - Al Bottegon’, a traditional gathering spot for spritz and ‘cicheti’, ‘Lo Squero’, one of the best gelateria in the city and 'Locanda Montin', one of Venice's most famous restaurants. A simple stroll along the stunning Zattere waterfront to a well-stocked Billa supermarket and some great dining options, including the accomplished cooking of ‘Ristorante Riviera’ and the chic over-water terrace of ‘Lineadombra’ or, for something simpler, ‘Ae Oche’ with its mind-boggling variety of eat-in or takeaway pizza, all set beside the unforgettable surroundings of the Giudecca Canal.
Convenient for two vaporetto stops for easy travel around the city - the ‘Zattere’ to the south and ‘Accademia’ to the north and only one minute to the Alilaguna boat stop connecting the Zattere to Venice's Marco Polo Airport.
