Description
Unquestionably one of our prettiest properties - a charming apartment that ticks all the boxes offering sweet canal views plus a terrace on top!
Perched up on high above the picturesque little wisteria-clad ‘Corte della Comare’ or ‘Courtyard of the Midwife’ near Dorsoduro’s Campo San Barnaba (an Instagramer’sdream come true!), Ca’ delle Comari sleeps 6 in delightful surroundings elegantly furnished with a feminine touch.
Within hopping distance of VOV’s 15th century Grand Canal Palazzo Loredan (home to the splendid Ca’ Cerchieri family of apartments), and reached by a gated external stone staircase rising from the courtyard below, this bright and cheerful duplex apartment with Wi-fi sits on the 2nd and 3rd floors of the property (no lift) and borders the dainty ‘Rio Malpaga’ canal.
Newly and carefully restored, its warm and decidedly characterful accommodation comprises:
· A cosy and inviting main sitting/dining room with soft lighting, exposed beams, terrazzo flooring, air-conditioning and a quaint Juliet balcony looking over the canal below
· A compact yet well-equipped galley-style kitchen with a washing machine and everything required for cooking at home
· Two attractive and air-conditioned double bedrooms in shabby-chic style and creamy gelato colours - one with a double bed and canal view to the side and the other overlooking the ‘corte’ with a double bed which can also be divided into twins at your request
· A bathroom in Venetian red 'Marmorino' with modern fittings and a separate shower
A stone staircase to the top floor, home to -
· A large air-conditioned ‘mansardine’ / lounging area with a vaguely Moroccan vibe and two fold out single beds beneath low white-washed beams - see photo gallery for room proportions
· A further bathroom (this time with bathtub - please note the sloping ceiling / restricted headspace)
· And steps leading up to the magical (and very high) ‘altana’ furnished rooftop terrace looking over Dorsoduro’s skyline to the Church of San Barnaba* and offering a partial glimpse of the Grand Canal to the rear
* although some of you may remember it as the library in the movie ‘Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade’, the church is now venue for a permanent exhibition of the machines of Leonardo da Vinci
Are you part of a larger group who would like to stay close together but in separate apartments? We offer several other apartments in very close proximity: Ca’Cerchieri 3, Ca’ Cerchieri 1, Ca’ Cerchieri Mezzanine, Ca’ Cerchieri Terrace, and the spectacular Ca’ Cerchieri Piano Nobile and Ca’ Cerchieri Loredan
OUR COMMENT
Picture-postcard-perfect both inside and out! - A delightful and quintessentially Venetian apartment in one of our absolute favourite spots.
A short stroll to the Accademia Galleries / Bridge (leading over the Grand Canal towards Campo Santo Stefano), to the stunning Zattere waterfront with its fabulous canal views, and to the Squero San Trovaso (founded in the 17th century and the oldest of only a tiny handful of working gondola boatyards still left in Venice today, where skilled local artisans continue to craft, maintain and repair gondolas by hand using century old methods).
Moments to a wonderful variety of small shops, bars and well-regarded restaurants including Enoteca Ai Artisti, Ristorante Riviera, Quatro Feri, Oniga and Locanda Montin… not forgetting Cantinone Gia Schiavi-Al Bottegon for spritz and ‘cicheti’ with the locals, and Bar alla Toletta for superb ‘tramezzini’.
Convenient to 2 vaporetto (water bus) stops - the closest at Ca’ Rezzonico (next to the Ca’ Rezzonico Museum of 18th Century Venice) and the other at Accademia, and within very easy reach of the famous fruit and vegetable boat moored at San Barnaba plus 2 well-stocked supermarkets - Conad on the Zattere and Punto in Campo Santa Margherita for all your self-catering needs!

We really loved everything about this sweet apartment! The location was ideal: quiet and away from all the tourists but very close and convenient to get to all the sights of Venice!
We will definitely come back and hope to stay here!

What a wonderful stay- really impeccable service and attention to details before the trip, to everything we might need during the stay, and with arrival and departure support. While I was not able to use my US phone for communication, emails worked perfectly. Every staffer we met was attentive, helpful, and dedicated to supporting sustainable tourism in Venice. We loved being in an authentic (beautiful, well-lit, well-equipped, with 13th century charm...) apartment which was literally a 3 minute walk to the water bus as well as some of the most relaxed squares in Venice. We alternated walking and boat riding all over the city, and were close enough to everything that we could take AC and food breaks at home in between outings. I must say that we (quite literally) selected 45 apartments for our very special 6 day stay in Venice, and created pros/cons of each one we looked at as we researched them more. Every review about this place is accurate, and we got exactly what we hoped for. The apartment was slightly higher than our price range, but 100% worth it and we did not regret any of the expenses (including arrival by water taxi as we worried in our exhaustion and at night we would get lost). One quick note: the steps to the apt, terrace and to the upstairs loft are stone/ wood and either slipperysteep. This is not a place to try and run up and down anything- take it slow and easy- channel your leisurely energy!!! (we had an injury when one of our teens slid on a step)

This was our first visit to Venice with three kids. We had a great time - the property is in a great location, quite close to the vaporetto stop and to some very nice bacari and restaurants. The area is much less busy than San Marco and I would really recommend it for families. There are a couple of squares near by where you can buy anything you need. The apartment is great, with canal views and everything you need for self catering. The hosts were also very nice and available for anything you need. There is a nice roof terrace which is great for lunch/dinner and a glass of wine!

I am so happy that we found this apartment, out of the hundreds that are available. It was perfect for our family, and gave us the feeling of really living in Venice, if only for a few nights. From the beginning, the owner was extremely helpful. He actually manages many more apartments, so has a staff available to help out. They arranged water taxis for us, met us at the apartment, showed us the best places to eat and shop, told us how to get around. The apartment itself is located at the back of a small courtyard, and up a few flights of steps. The pictures are all accurate, but don't do the apartment justice. Especially amazing are the views from the rooftop deck and out the windows, watching boats go by in the small canals. The beds are all very comfortable. The linens beautiful. The apartment was spotless. The AC worked everywhere. The kitchen has everything you'd need (though we didn't cook once). We just loved it.

The photos do not do this apartment justice, as it is prettier, brighter and much larger than they show. My husband, daughter and I spent 12 of the most wonderful vacation days of our lives in this charming building in the serenity of the Dorsoduro section of wonderful Venice. Filippo and Rachele of Views on Venice made the rental arrangements and the arrival and departure so easy and so gracious. The apartment is perfect for families, as it has 2 floors. The entire top floor is an attic garret with high ceilings, so there is room galore for a group to spread out and chill. The ancient wood beamed ceilings and terrazzo patterned flooring create an authentic Venetian living experience. We loved the convenient location, so close to the C'a Rezzonico vaporetto stop for cruises up and down the Grand Canal to different areas of Venice to explore. There’s a very short walk to the one and only remaining floating fruit and vegetable vender in the city and nearby supermarket, making it so easy to stock up on food and beverages (a huge selection of Prosecco!) Campo San Barnaba with several stellar restaurants, a great bakery and a café is a 3 minute walk away, and we spent many happy evenings visiting the many cafes and restaurants in lively Campo Santa Margherita, again just minutes away by foot. Questo appartamento era perfetto!
