Description
Seek out the surprising ‘Tesori di Celestia’ - Treasures of Celestia - a beacon of antique & designer chic in the Castello sestiere
Lounging languorously behind a grand 15th century palazzo facade in one of the last remaining pockets of solidly traditional Venetian charm, this treasure trove apartment swaddles 8 in a stuccoed wonderland of time-honoured elegance and aristocratic good taste
Wearing the patina of its past with customary Venetian aplomb and harbouring a marvelously curated mélange of ancient beams, gleaming terrazzo and dazzling chandeliers offset with ‘of the moment’ furnishings fully in tune with modern times, the freshly renovated Tesori di Celestia comprises 4 bedrooms & 3 bathrooms arranged in 2 semi-independent apartments* connected by stairs
Promising Wi-Fi and air-conditioned*** luxury in an atmospheric setting a few paces from the virtually undiscovered Campo De La Celestia, accommodation is spread over 2 floors of the palazzo and comprises:
Ground Floor
A private internal entrance into…
A newly created 1 bedroom & 1 bathroom pied-à-terre with wooden beams and terrazzo flooring, perfect for cosying up or hunkering down (!) and comprising:
· An attractively furnished open-plan main living space with a sitting/dining area dressed in a fresh, modern style with an L-shaped sofa, a dining table, plus an up-to-date and fully equipped kitchen at one end with marble splash-back
· An inner hallway with built-in wardrobe leading on one side to a bijou double bedroom with double bed, and an ante-room with washing machine on the other which in turn leads to…
· A luxurious dove grey marble-clad bathroom with up-to-the-minute oval bathtub and separate shower
A monumental stone staircase rises up from the ground floor to the…
First Floor
Home to a remarkable 3 bedroom & 2 bathroom apartment reached via a private internal entrance and comprising:
· A breathtaking sitting/dining room - ravishing in its use of colour - spectacularly adorned with intricate 16th century stuccos, painted wooden beams hung with a Murano chandelier, mirror-like polished terrazzo and a wonderful mix of antiques offset with plump teal-blue velvet designer sofas and a mix of modern lighting - a match made in heaven!
· An up-to-date and fully equipped kitchen to the side with marble splash-back
· An enormous master double bedroom/boudoir where the atmosphere of the palazzo’s history well and truly comes alive! A bedroom to remember - furnished with a wonderfully romantic four poster double bed, a scattering of period pieces, a modern chaise longue - the highlight of which is a spectacular marble fireplace (now used as a bookshelf) fringed with delicate lace-like stuccos which are echoed around the room
· A dainty jewel-box of a twin bedroom with 2 single beds sitting beneath a pair of chandeliers and gilt rococo over-mantle mirrors
And on the opposite side of the apartment…
· A sweet double bedroom - smaller and simpler in style to the others - with a double bed and a pristine en suite dove grey marble-clad bathroom with shower
And finally, just off the apartment landing…
· An additional deluxe bathroom matching in house-style and colour with trendy oval bathtub and separate shower
* Note that the 2 apartments are not available for individual rental (i.e. they must be rented together) and so they are ideal if 2 members of your group would like a little more autonomy/privacy!
OUR COMMENT
Your bounty awaits you on your Venetian voyage of discovery - tucked away off the beaten path but only a short stroll to St. Mark’s square!
A characterful apartment in a remarkably unspoilt area shared with a barely discernable trickle of inquisitive and well-informed visitors seeking out the 'genuine' everyday Venice of gently flapping washing lines, sun-dappled courtyards and characterful calli - yet still close to the action if you want to get busy about town
Within steps of the peaceful Palladian church of San Francesco della Vigna (St Francis of the Vines) with its soaring bell-tower and delightfully peaceful cloisters, and on the 'right' side of town for visiting the Biennale Pavilions at Arsenale and Giardini
A gentle walk to the imposing Basilica di Santi Giovanni e Paolo (one of the largest churches in Venice and burial place of no fewer than 25 Venetian Doges), the richly atmospheric Scuola di San Giorgio degli Schiavoni with its paintings by Carpaccio, and to the 'Questura' office of Donna Leon's fictional Commissario Guido Brunetti
Also within a stone’s throw of a 'Punto Simply' supermarket near San Lorenzo and the small local shops of Salizada San Francesco and Barbaria Del Tole for all your self-catering needs… and only 150m to the Vaporetto (water bus) stop at Celestia (with no bridges to cross in between) for travel around the city, trips to beaches of the Lido and visits to the glass-blowing island of Murano, the rainbow-coloured island of Burano and the ancient island of Torcello with its 7th Century Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta

Our family was so fortunate to be together in Venice in this gorgeous apartment. We brought our grandchildren and children, and my husband and I slept in the downstairs apartment. Located a few minutes from the vaporetto and short walks to different grocery stores, we all explored the beauty of the neighborhood and bought breakfast, and wine and made a few dinners together when we needed a night in. The Views on Venice staff answered every single question, before and during our stay, helped us with a baby package delivery, and ordered our water taxis. Silvio met us at the local vaporetto stop to give us the keys, explain the heating system, and a map he starred for buying supplies and he gave us some neighborhood restaurant recommendations. We had one question the staff thought needed to be handled quickly and they were there within the hour on a weekend! I had worked in Venice for two weeks the prior spring, so knew my way around a bit and had requested a large house in a quiet neighborhood. We loved having the school children next door with their happy voices, riding their scooters. Our gratitude to Views on Venice who made our dream stay come true!

The main bedroom does not have an en suite, but with three bathrooms in total this was not a major issue.

It smelled a little musty. But after airing it out, the smell went away. One of the ironing boards was broken.

The couch upstairs could use a bit of cleaning. More dish towels would be useful. The upstairs dryer didn’t seem to be working. Nevertheless, we really enjoyed our stay!

Everything about this property was perfect. It was an absolutely beautiful space that is set up for privacy. The first floor apartment was helpful since we traveled with a friend who had a separate space. The upper floor set up well with 3 bedrooms and 2 baths. The property came with everything we needed, was in a lovely quiet neighborhood and was within walking distance to a grocery store and restaurants. The rental agency provided the most helpful service that I have yet experienced. They provide free-of-charge concierge services that we took advantage of. They were able to set up water taxis and tours (for a lower price than booking directly).

A beautiful canal side address to impress – the epitome of style and understated elegance on the Canal Dei Greci with its famous leaning tower nearby. This really is the best of both worlds… less than ten minutes from all the must-see sights of St Mark's Square (including the Basilica, the Doge’s Palace and the Clock Tower) and yet right next to the quieter, more atmospheric neighbourhood of Castello.
Fans of Donna Leon’s fictional crime-buster, Commissario Guido Brunetti, will certainly feel at home here. The offices of the “Questura” where he works are a few doors away.
Ca’ dei Greci is an unusually light and airy apartment with lovely views over a wide canal - gondolas glide past and a water taxi can drop you at your front door. It offers spacious and classically Venetian surroundings for up to eight guests with four very private bedrooms and three bathrooms.
The main sitting-room has three double-height windows opening directly onto a balcony overlooking the canal, with a park beyond. It’s a charming, central room, very Venetian in style with an oriental rug on a traditional terrazzo floor, old mirrors and tasteful artworks.
The informal TV room to the side has huge, comfortable sofas, an upright piano for the musically inclined and two windows also overlooking the canal. The air-conditioned dining room is a picture of elegance in which classic wooden cabinetry and the bold geometric patterns of the polished parquet flooring are offset by the delicacy of a fine crystal chandelier and pretty cane-backed chairs. If you fancy a formal Venetian dinner, this is the place!
The dining room looks out towards the Campinale of St Mark's which you can see over the terracotta rooftops. Next to it stands the white, light-filled kitchen which is fully equipped and features traditional terazzo flooring plus a scrubbed wooden country style table for lazy breakfasts or preparing lunch or dinner.
There are four large and very tasteful bedrooms – three doubles and a twin - each stylishly presented with antique furniture, comfortable beds and beautiful wardrobes. The master bedroom has a secret door leading to its own hidden bathroom and canal views. The double bedroom at the back looks out over a pretty, palm-filled garden and the twin is charming and roomy.
So – ideal for a large family or for couples staying together (and needing their own space), Ca’ Dei Greci is a Venetian home from home.
OUR COMMENT
Space and relaxed grandeur in a fabulous spot…
A short walk to the atmospheric Scuola di San Giorgio degli Schiavoni and its wonderful Carpaccio paintings, the monumental Dominican Basilica di Santi Giovanni e Paolo (one of the largest churches in Venice and burial place of no fewer than 25 Venetian Doges), and to Campo Santa Maria Formosa (site of the Querini Stampalia) passing Palazzo Grimani on the way.
And even closer to home - moments to the cavernous and newly restored Church of San Lorenzo (long closed but now home to Ocean Space - a collaborative platform focusing on ocean conservation) and to the Museo di Dipinti Sacri Byzanti (Museum of Icons) just along the canal.
Also within easy reach of the local Punto supermarket for easy self-catering and to the vaporetto (water bus) stop at San Zaccaria for easy travel around the city.
For arrivals between 8.00 p.m. and midnight there is an additional cost for "late arrival" of Euro 50, to be paid in cash upon arrival. We organize arrivals between midnight and one o'clock with an additional cost of Euro 100, after this time we reserve the right to accept the customer always with a supplement to be quantified according to the time of arrival.

Introducing the beautifully renewed Ca' Del Monastero collection — a unique residence comprising nine elegant apartments set within the former monastery connected to the ancient Church of San Zan Degolà, one of the oldest churches in Venice, tucked away in the authentic and atmospheric district of Santa Croce, just moments from the Grand Canal.
Recently refreshed with a sophisticated new interior concept, Ca' Del Monastero 4 combines the grandeur of a historic Venetian residence with contemporary comfort and understated elegance. Warm neutral palettes, refined textured wall coverings, carefully curated furnishings and rich golden accents create a welcoming and relaxing atmosphere, while traditional Venetian terrazzo flooring, soaring ceilings and original architectural features preserve the timeless charm of the building's historic character.
Enhanced by a range of modern comforts including air conditioning, Wi-Fi connection and communal utility facilities, the Ca' Del Monastero apartments offer an ideal balance between authentic Venetian living and contemporary convenience in one of the city's most genuine residential neighbourhoods.
A wonderfully spacious and light-filled dual-aspect apartment enjoying picturesque views of the Church, Campo and Rio de San Zan Degolà to the front and the Salizada del Fondaco dei Turchi to the rear, Ca' Del Monastero 4 offers impressive accommodation for up to eight guests.
Situated on the first floor of the residence and conveniently accessible both by elevator and by stairs, the apartment showcases the elegant proportions traditionally associated with Venice's noble residences.
At its heart lies an impressive full-length living and dining room characterised by exceptionally high ceilings, beautiful painted beams, Venetian terrazzo flooring and large windows that flood the interiors with natural light throughout the day.
Elegant contemporary furnishings blend effortlessly with the apartment's historic architectural features, while comfortable lounge seating and a generous dining area create an inviting setting for relaxing, socialising and spending time together. Subtle golden tones, soft fabrics and carefully selected decorative elements contribute to a calm and refined atmosphere throughout the living spaces.
Adjacent to the main reception room sits the fully equipped kitchen and breakfast room, thoughtfully designed to provide everything required for both short and extended stays.
The sleeping accommodation has been arranged to offer comfort, privacy and flexibility for families and larger groups alike.
Two beautifully appointed double bedrooms, one overlooking the Campo and one facing the quieter rear side of the residence, each benefit from their own stylish en-suite bathroom. Decorative wall coverings, warm neutral tones, soft lighting and elegant furnishings create welcoming spaces designed for rest and relaxation. One bathroom features a spacious walk-in shower, while the second offers a bathtub with overhead shower.
Between the two principal bedrooms sits a cosy additional bedroom/snug with a comfortable sofa bed sleeping two guests, ideal for children or occasional guests.
A fourth bedroom, located to the front of the apartment, features a double bed which can be prepared as twin beds upon request. This room also benefits from its own en-suite service bathroom with WC and washbasin.
Throughout the apartment, original Venetian character is complemented by contemporary comfort, creating an inviting and elegant atmosphere perfectly suited to larger families and groups seeking an authentic stay in Venice.
Guests staying at Ca' Del Monastero enjoy the rare opportunity to experience one of Venice's most authentic residential neighbourhoods while remaining within easy reach of the city's most celebrated landmarks.
The residence is conveniently located within walking distance of Venice Santa Lucia Railway Station and Piazzale Roma, while the nearby vaporetto (waterbus) stops of Riva di Biasio and San Stae on the Grand Canal provide effortless connections throughout the city.
Just moments away lies Campo San Giacomo dell'Orio, one of Venice's most charming and lively local squares, surrounded by cafés, restaurants and authentic Venetian daily life. Excellent restaurants including All'Anfora, La Zucca, Il Refolo, Al Prosecco and Antica Besseta are all within easy walking distance, together with cultural landmarks such as Ca' Pesaro International Gallery of Modern Art, Palazzo Mocenigo and the magnificent Basilica di Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari.
A leisurely stroll also leads to the Scuola Grande di San Rocco, renowned for its extraordinary Tintoretto masterpieces, the vast Campo San Polo and the bustling Rialto district with its famous market, shops and celebrated culinary scene.
For larger groups wishing to stay close together while maintaining privacy, the residence also includes Ca' Del Monastero 1, Ca' Del Monastero 2, Ca' Del Monastero 3, Ca' Del Monastero 5, Ca' Del Monastero 6, Ca' Del Monastero 7, Ca' Del Monastero 8 and Ca' Del Monastero 9.
