Description
Introducing the very special Ca’ Del Monastero – a refined historic residence comprising 9 beautifully restored apartments of varying sizes (including Ca’ Del Monastero 6, featured below), located within what was once the monastery connected to the ancient Church of San Zan Degolà, one of Venice’s oldest churches, just moments from the Grand Canal in the authentic district of Santa Croce.
Set within one of Venice’s most atmospheric and unspoilt neighbourhoods, where quiet campi, historic waterways and centuries of history create a truly timeless setting, the Ca’ Del Monastero apartments offer spacious and elegantly appointed accommodation for couples, families and groups of friends, or up to 38 guests when reserved together.*
Recently restored with great attention to detail, the residence perfectly balances Venetian character with contemporary comfort.
Polished marble flooring, exposed wooden beams, elegant wall coverings and carefully selected furnishings create interiors that feel both sophisticated and welcoming, while modern amenities ensure a comfortable and effortless stay in the heart of Venice.
Enhanced by a range of facilities expected by today’s discerning traveller, including air conditioning**, Wi-Fi internet connection and communal utility facilities, Ca’ Del Monastero offers an ideal base from which to experience the authentic spirit of Venice while enjoying all the comforts of modern living.
Ca’ Del Monastero 6
Bright, elegant and wonderfully welcoming, Ca’ Del Monastero 6 is a beautifully appointed two-bedroom apartment overlooking the charming Church, Campo and Rio di San Zan Degolà.
Located on the second floor of the residence and conveniently reached by lift, the apartment accommodates up to 4 guests and combines generous living spaces with refined contemporary interiors.
At its heart lies a spacious and light-filled living room featuring polished marble floors, traditional exposed wooden beams and two large windows framing delightful views over the peaceful square below. Comfortable sofas and armchairs create the perfect setting for relaxing after a day exploring Venice, while elegant white Murano-style chandeliers add a touch of Venetian sophistication.

Our Comment
Style, comfort and history come together beautifully in one of Venice’s most authentic and characterful neighbourhoods.
The apartment is within easy walking distance of Santa Lucia Railway Station and Piazzale Roma, and even closer to the vaporetto (waterbus) stops at Riva di Biasio and San Stae, offering effortless access to every corner of the city.
And there is so much to discover right on your doorstep.
Just moments away lies Campo San Giacomo dell’Orio, one of Venice’s most beloved squares, shaded by trees and frequented mainly by locals. Here you will find a well-stocked Coop supermarket, artisan shops, cafés and a genuine neighbourhood atmosphere rarely experienced by visitors.

A pleasant stroll leads to the magnificent Basilica dei Frari, home to masterpieces by Titian and Canova, the extraordinary Scuola Grande di San Rocco adorned with Tintoretto’s celebrated works, the grand Campo San Polo, and finally the vibrant markets, restaurants and atmosphere of the Rialto district.

in the kitchen the chairs make an awful noise. you could put strong textile pieces (felt) beneath the legs of the chairs. Also, some doors were squeaky, but I put oil on the hinges.

An ancient canal-side palace within minutes of St. Mark’s Square.
Hidden away on its landside within the secret courtyard ‘Corte Rubbi’, on the Castello/San Marco border, this once forgotten building has been magically transformed by restorers with vision and interior design savoir-faire.
Standing at the gondola-busy T-junction of the San Zulian and Bareteri canals, and encapsulating 10 dazzling apartments of varying colourway and size, the newly launched Corte Rubbi is but a stroll to some of Venice’s most iconic attractions and countless beguiling vistas on which to feast your eyes!
Easy to find (when you know the way!) from the shop-lined Campo San Bartolomeo and Salizada San Lio on one of Venice’s canal-encircled ‘islands within an island’, these imaginatively furnished apartments offer Wi-Fi and a communal laundry room and are spread across 4 floors with all upper floors reached by stairs.
Highly contemporary in style, air-conditioned** throughout and ranging from a charming studio for 4 to a fabulous penthouse with rooftop terrace, Corte Rubbi’s 10 apartments sleep up to 42 guests if booked exclusively and include:
Corte Rubbi 6 – on the 2nd Floor reached by stairs – sleeping 4
A peaceful and relaxing studio apartment looking onto the courtyard comprising:
A charming main living / dining / sleeping area in warm and welcoming ivory and pink with wooden parquet flooring underfoot, wooden beamed ceiling overhead, a pair of queen size double beds and a dining area seating 4
A well-equipped kitchenette for light cooking reached by a few steps up from the main room
A luxurious bathroom to the side with marble walls and chromotherapy shower
Are you part of a larger group who’d like to stay close together but in separate apartments? We offer 9 other apartments within this palazzo: Corte Rubbi 1, Corte Rubbi 3, Corte Rubbi 5, Corte Rubbi 8, Corte Rubbi 9, Corte Rubbi 10, Corte Rubbi 11 and Corte Rubbi 5514
OUR COMMENT
A peaceful and relaxing studio for 4, in a vibrant, central and endlessly fascinating part of town.
A few steps away from the 18th-century church of Santa Maria Della Fava and close to a host of famous sights and attractions including the atmospheric Venetian time-capsule that is the Querini Stampalia, the fabulous Palazzo Grimani just off Campo Santa Maria Formosa, the Church of San Zaccaria with its crypt and wonderful Bellini altarpiece, and Vivaldi’s La Pietà on the sunny Riva degli Schiavoni waterfront…
… A short stroll towards a very sedate pace of life lived out amongst the tranquil calles, canals and green spaces of Castello with its laid-back and very genuine neighbourhood vibe…
… Or rise with the lark to embrace the atmosphere of St. Mark’s Square (‘the Piazza’) gloriously near-empty before its visitors arrive… or visit at night when the orchestras of Quadri and Florian play*, the bells of the Campanile (bell tower) toll, the marble of the Doge’s Palace glows, and the mosaics of the Basilica shimmer in the darkness…
Close to a host of shops, restaurants and bars including the much-lauded Alle Testiere, the upmarket Bistrot de Venise and Alle Corone of the nearby Hotel Reali, the charming Osteria Al Portego (delicious cicheti!) and Osteria Ae Sconte, plus Ristorante Santa Maria Formosa with its tables on the campo.
Also within easy reach of 4 well-stocked supermarkets – a Despar at Calle al Ponte de la Guerra, a COOP at Salizada San Lio, and a COOP and a Despar on the Riva del Carbon (near the Rialto Bridge), along with a ‘Vino Sfuso’ (wine on tap) shop on Calle del Mondo Novo and a greengrocer’s stand at Campo Santa Maria Formosa.
Within a short stroll of the vaporetto (water bus) stop at Rialto for exploring the city, the ‘Traghetto’ gondola ferry carrying passengers across the Grand Canal between the Riva Del Carbon and San Silvestro in the San Polo district and the vaporetto (water bus) stop at San Zaccaria for trips around town, visits to the Lido beaches and to the Biennale Pavilions at Arsenale and Giardini.
*Note that performances are dependent on weather and season
**Please note that the operation of air conditioning and heating are subjected to the municipality regulation. We organize arrivals between midnight and one o'clock with an additional cost of Euro 100, after this time we reserve the right to accept the customer always with a supplement to be quantified according to the time of arrival.
Beds will be arranged as either doubles or twins as shown in the photos. The possibility of turning a double bed into twins or vice versa can be found in the description and must be requested at least 7 days before arrival.14 reviews -
