Description
Created with a generous serving of Venetian verve and va-va-voom, we proudly present apartment Ca’ Della Luce.
Peacefully positioned in the refined, palazzo-packed parish of San Samuele close to the Grand Canal in the district of San Marco, and flooded with light as befits its name along with an elegance that reveals its owners’ taste and designer’s talents, the apartment sleeps 6 within the top 2 floors of the property reached by stairs.
Crowned with a furnished ‘altana’ roof terrace * all of your own enjoying exceptional vistas across the surrounding terracotta rooftops to some of Venice’s most iconic landmarks including the domes of Salute and St. Mark’s Campanile, Ca’ Della Luce offers the convenience and comfort of Wi-Fi and air-conditioning throughout while an interplay of choice linens and velvet, Farrow & Ball wallpapers, custom-built furnishings and well-chosen upholstery breathes life into its traditional framework.
Following hot on the heels of our popular Ca’ Dell’ Opera, accommodation commences on the 3rd floor and comprises:
- A spacious sitting/dining room dressed in a cool and classic palette of muted neutrals brightened by splashes of teal and Tiffany blue against a backdrop of white painted beams and burnished wooden parquet.
- A small up-to-date and well-equipped kitchen to the side with dappled grey marble work surfaces and Miele oven.
- Two delightful bedrooms – the master in Farrow & Ball’s ‘Lotus’ Damask print with double bed and a twin decked out in Farrow & Ball’s ‘Tessella’ with 2 singles.
- A contemporary-style bathroom decorated entirely in Italian mosaic with bathtub and hand held shower.
Stairs rising to the 4th floor:
- A characterful studio doubling up as an additional 3rd bedroom with double bed, its own en-suite bathroom with shower (again in mosaic), plus steps giving rise to the…
Furnished ‘altana’ roof terrace * – a magical place for whiling away your downtime and soaking up the atmosphere of this most special of towns.
Important: please note that the apartment only accepts fully supervised children over 6 years of age or under 1 year (non-walking babies) because of the internal stairs, ‘altana’ rooftop terrace.
OUR COMMENT
A comfortable and light-filled beacon of style with a fabulous ‘altana’ in San Samuele.
Rubbing shoulders with some of the city’s most coveted residential addresses and ideally placed for the first time or regular visitor to Venice who appreciates peaceful surroundings yet who’d like to stay close to many of Venice’s star attractions.
Within a stone’s throw of the Palazzo Grassi Museum of Modern Art, and within moments of several osterie, the outdoor cafes of Campo Santo Stefano, a wine shop, a local grocery/delicatessen, plus a well-stocked Punto supermarket just a little further on.
Seconds to the area’s antique shops and galleries including that of interior designer Chiarastella Cattana - a discreetly sophisticated showroom of fine and distinctively woven textiles and furnishings and, for scent-lovers, the Venice outlet of the famous Florentine ‘Officina Profumo Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella’ - one of the oldest pharmacies in the world and one time fragrance maker to Catherine de’ Medici.
Also close to two vaporetto (water bus) stops - San Samuele and Sant’ Angelo - for foot-friendly exploration of the city, and moments to the local ‘traghetto’ at Garzoni which, during operating times, ferries passengers by gondola across the Grand Canal to San Toma in the district of San Polo.
* Please be aware that the ‘altana’ is only accessible via the studio/3rd bedroom
** Are you a part of a larger group who’d like to stay close together but in separate apartments? We offer several apartments in very close proximity: Ca’ Grassi 1, Ca’ Grassi 2, Ca’ Grassi 3, Ca’ Del Teatro, Ca’ Dei Colori 1 and Ca’ Dei Colori 2
For arrivals between 8.00 p.m. and midnight there is an additional cost for "late arrival" of Euro 50, to be paid in cash upon arrival. We organize arrivals between midnight and one o'clock with an additional cost of Euro 100, after this time we reserve the right to accept the customer always with a supplement to be quantified according to the time of arrival.

The apartment is even more amazing in person. It felt like home away from home with high end amenities and plenty of comfortable seating. Both charming and updated. The kitchen is a little tight, but we cooked a big breakfast everyday. The bathrooms are gorgeous-providing the luxe hotel experience we enjoy with complimentary toiletries. The water pressure in the shower is a little low and we weren’t sure we figured out the settings, but there was plenty of hot water for all. There are a lot of stairs-the apartment is on the third floor, with three steep flights up with bags. It was no issue for our family, but it might be harder with older family membersyoung. The upstairs bedroom with roof access was heaven… definitely making the experience unforgettable. Highly recommend. Take water taxi to San Samuele dock. Apartment is a 2 min walk. Great location. Not in tourist crowd but so close to everything you want. Felt like living local. Ciao Bello, Ca’ Della Luce Terrace. We will miss you!

What an impressive property! From the spacious bedrooms and living area to the amazing terrace that overlooked the rooftops of Venice. Being able to enjoy a bottle of local wine on the rooftop, whilst the sun set was one of the highlights of our stay in Venice. The location is ideal and is walk-able to all major attractions. It's also less that a 5 minute walk to transport via canal . If you are considering staying here, do it. You won't be disappointed.

I booked this apartment as a surprise birthday present for my wife and as a family break and after looking at many many others. I booked it mainly due to how beautiful it looked, it's roof terrace and it's location! It didn't disappoint on any front! We got a water taxi from the airport (definitely worth the extra Euros!) and were met by Christina who took us the short distance to the Apartment and explained everything. The whole stay was wonderful and the roof terrace was amazing. We sat each night listening to all the clock towers competing with their bells and watched a huge cruise ship glide along the rooftops while sipping prosecco!! The apartment is in a fantastic location to get to all the tourist hotspots but was also tucked away down a quiet alley at the end of which was the Grand Canal! It was a magical week and we will definitely return and highly recommend Views on Venice for anybody wanting to stay in Venice!

Fantastic apartment with a terrace to die for (the views are simply SPECTACULAR) in a great location: just off Campo Santo Stefano, close to the Accademia Bridge. The layout and the decoration of the apartment are perfect and there is plenty of space for 6. We were traveling with our two children and two friends who came to Venice for their very first time and had the best time ever. The beds are comfortable and the apartment itself is very quiet. We enjoyed our evening Prosecco up on the terrace and would be back tomorrow!

Quartier d'antiquaires.

Sojourn in Style in a Serene Palazzo Setting and Unlock the Secrets of Palazzo Vendramin… … A rare collection of fine luxury apartments expertly created within a 15th century canal-side palace near the Church of Santa Fosca in the heart of Cannaregio. Sensitively steered into the 21st century under the direction of noted Venetian architect Alberto Torsello and interior design team Zanon Associati, Palazzo Vendramin provides a calm, unruffled and historically fascinating backdrop to 3 exceptional new apartments (including Sartor – see its dedicated section below). Integrating chic Italian design with meticulously restored architectural details such as Venetian terrazzo flooring and colourful frescoes, these remarkable properties range from a well-proportioned studio with shared furnished courtyard, to a bright and beautiful 2 bedroom Piano Nobile apartment, each offering guests a unique opportunity to sample the joys of elegant palazzo living in one of the most authentic Venetian districts of town. Standing imposingly on the Fondamenta de Ca’ Vendramin, between the Rio di Santa Fosca and Rio del Trapolin canals well hidden from the tourist footfall yet with an excellent variety of local amenities very close at hand, these impressive apartments enjoy the best of both worlds. Thought to have once been home to the large and illustrious Vendramin family (merchants trading in oil, cheese and salted meat and producers and sellers of soap - the latter bringing them great fame and fortune over time), and representing a harmonious blend of the historical and the contemporary, its cavernous communal ‘androne’ hallway with majestic stone staircase and walls embellished with modern art and frescoes provides a fitting welcome to the Palazzo at the start of your stay. Note that the Palazzo can be reached by private water taxi for easy arrivals and departures from within a few short steps of the main Palazzo entrance, and that all 8 apartments offer air-conditioning*** throughout and Wi-Fi as standard. And with a nostalgic nod to a bygone era, the Palazzo Vendramin apartments have each been named in homage to Venice’s traditional tradesmen and craftsmen, or ‘mestieri’, who in times past would have been familiar characters within ‘La Serenissima’s’ labyrinth of ‘calli’ and ‘campi’. Sartor - The Tailor A contemporary-style apartment gently nuzzling the past boasting impressive proportions on the Palazzo's first floor. Conveniently served by lift and offering an unfussy, easy-living vibe within its elegant 3 bedroom / 2 bathroom accommodation to the centre-rear of the Palazzo, this sparkling new apartment sleeps up to 6 guests and comprises - - An elongated main sitting / reception room of classically Venetian dimensions studded with black & white scenes of an iconic Venice and featuring extensive restored wooden beams, Venetian terrazzo flooring, plenty of seating for chilling including a pair of ivory sofas, dual low-slung leather armchairs, and a funky retro Gaetano Pesce designed UP 5 Lounge Chair and UP 6 Ottoman by B&B Italia (1969) in bright red, plus a glazed door at one end leading into a private open-air internal courtyard - A well-equipped kitchen-breakfast / dining room to the side with smart brushed stainless steel units, a wooden refectory table seating 8, and attractive wall panelling repeated elsewhere in the apartment - An inner hallway leading to Sartor’s 3 restful bedrooms & 2 bathrooms - a cosy and pristinely presented twin bedroom with 2 single beds the stylishly understated master bedroom with a double bed, 3 full height glazed doors opening onto small Juliet balconies / balustrades - one to the side, and 2 enjoying views over the tranquil Rio del Trapolin canal to the rear - and a gorgeous 19th century ‘Soffitto a Cassettoni’ wooden ceiling the second double bedroom replicating the master bedroom in decor, and with a full height glazed door opening onto small Juliet balcony / balustrade to the side an up-to-date bathroom with twin wash-hand basins and a bathtub a further bathroom, similarly immaculate and in matching style, with twin wash-hand basins and a large shower **Are you a part of a larger group who’d like to stay close together but in separate apartments? We have 2 other apartments within the Palazzo: , Varoter and Spezier. OUR COMMENT A trendsetting apartment harking back to days of old in a privileged position in the Cannaregio ‘sestiere’… … A much-loved district with a traditional old-world charm characterised by peaceful residential areas, a host of historic landmarks including the spectacular fairy tale Ca’ d’Oro and the ancient Jewish Ghetto, plus long and wide canal-side ‘fondamente’ including the Fondamente de la Misericordia and de la Sensa (with their fabulous selection of local restaurants and ‘bacari’ – including our favourites Anice Stellato, Paradiso Perdutoand Vino Vero), and the Fondamente Nove – Venice’s northern waterfront overlooking the waters of the lagoon towards the distant peaks of the Dolomite mountains. Within an easy stroll of some wonderful churches including the dainty jewel-box Santa Maria dei Miracoli, the Gesuiti with its towering white façade and statues of the Apostles, and Madonna dell’ Orto - final resting place of the painter Tintoretto who lived nearby.
