    Accommodation

    Description

Introducing the very special Ca’ Del Monastero – a fine antique residence comprising nine superbly restored apartments of varying sizes (including Ca’ Del Monastero 2 – see its dedicated section below), situated within what was once the monastery connected to the ancient Church of San Zan Degolà, one of Venice’s oldest churches, just moments from the Grand Canal in the charming district of Santa Croce.

Enjoying an atmosphere of calm serenity in what must surely be one of Venice’s most evocative and unspoilt neighbourhoods – indeed a step back in time – the Ca’ Del Monastero apartments offer spacious and beautifully presented accommodation for small and medium-sized parties, or up to 38 guests when several apartments are reserved together.*
No expense has been spared in the recent restoration of this remarkable residence.

Carefully coordinated contemporary furnishings and soft neutral tones blend seamlessly with traditional Venetian architectural elements, including polished red marble flooring, exposed wooden beams and elegant proportions. Stylish high-specification fittings, textured resin walls and refined finishes lend a fresh and sophisticated character to the building’s historic framework.

Enhanced by a range of modern comforts demanded by today’s discerning traveller – including air-conditioning**, Wi-Fi internet connection and communal utility facilities – the Ca’ Del Monastero apartments provide the perfect base for discovering the authentic heart and soul of Venice while enjoying all the comforts of contemporary city living.

    Ca’ Del Monastero 2

Elegant, bright and wonderfully spacious, Ca’ Del Monastero 2 is a refined two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment overlooking the historic buildings of the Natural History Museum at the Fondaco dei Turchi, offering stylish accommodation for up to four guests in one of Venice’s most authentic residential quarters.
Situated on the first floor of the residence and easily reached by lift or stairs, the apartment combines generous proportions with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Rich red marble flooring, lofty ceilings and large windows create an immediate sense of space and light throughout.

At the heart of the apartment lies a beautifully presented open-plan living and dining room. Featuring an ornamental fireplace (not in use), a comfortable lounge area and an elegant dining table seating four, it provides the perfect setting for relaxing after a day spent exploring Venice’s hidden corners and famous landmarks.
Adjacent to the living area is the fully fitted kitchen and breakfast room, thoughtfully designed with modern appliances and a cosy dining space for informal meals, morning coffee or a leisurely breakfast before heading out into the city.

The accommodation is arranged around two beautifully appointed bedrooms. The spacious master bedroom enjoys generous natural light and elegant furnishings, creating a peaceful retreat at the end of the day. Its contemporary en-suite bathroom is finished to a high standard and features a large walk-in shower.

The second bedroom is furnished with twin beds and enjoys equally pleasant proportions, making it ideal for friends, children or additional family members. A second modern bathroom, also with a large shower, is conveniently located nearby.
With its combination of comfort, elegance and an enviable position overlooking one of Venice’s most historic institutions, Ca’ Del Monastero 2 offers a relaxing and authentic Venetian experience in a setting rich in character and local charm.

Are you travelling as part of a larger group?
We offer eight additional apartments within the Ca’ Del Monastero residence, allowing larger groups to stay close together while maintaining their own private accommodation: Ca’ Del Monastero 1, Ca’ Del Monastero 3, Ca’ Del Monastero 4, Ca’ Del Monastero 5, Ca’ Del Monastero 6, Ca’ Del Monastero 7, Ca’ Del Monastero 8 and Ca’ Del Monastero 9.

    Our Comment

Style, comfort and history beautifully combined in an area brimming with genuine Venetian character.
Within easy walking distance of Venice’s Santa Lucia Railway Station and Piazzale Roma if travelling light, and even closer to the vaporetto (waterbus) stops at Riva di Biasio and San Stae on the Grand Canal for effortless travel around the city.

And so much to see and do right on your doorstep...
Just moments from Campo San Giacomo dell’Orio, one of Venice’s most charming and authentic tree-lined squares, home to a well-stocked Coop supermarket, local shops and a lively neighbourhood atmosphere, and only a short stroll from a Conad supermarket on the Rio Marin canal.

Close to a wonderful selection of cafés, wine bars and restaurants including All’Anfora, La Zucca, Il Refolo, Al Prosecco and Antica Besseta, and within minutes of the Ca’ Pesaro International Gallery of Modern Art, Palazzo Mocenigo (Museum of Textiles, Costumes and Perfume) and the Fondazione Prada at Ca’ Corner della Regina.

A leisurely walk leads to the magnificent Basilica dei Frari, home to Canova’s extraordinary marble tomb and Titian’s celebrated masterpiece The Assumption, as well as the Scuola Grande di San Rocco with its breathtaking Tintoretto cycle, the grand palazzi of Campo San Polo, and the culinary delights and vibrant atmosphere of the Rialto district.

Please note that the operation of air-conditioning and heating is subject to municipal regulations. In general, heating is available from mid-October until mid-April, while air-conditioning is available from mid-April until mid-October. Please contact us for further information.

For arrivals between 8:00 p.m. and midnight there is an additional "late arrival" fee of Euro 50, payable in cash upon arrival. My family and I loved everything about our stay. The apartment was very comfortable for the four of us and located close enough to everything for walking to yet far enough to be in a quiet part of Venice.

The size of the bedrooms and bathrooms was good for four adults. The large living room was comfortable for relaxing after long days of sightseeing. The kitchen is well equipped.

The communication with Views on Venice really could not have been any better. They also arranged a water taxi for our 4am trip to the airport.

This apartment was by far the best one we stayed at during our two week Italian vacation.

The safe did not open therefore useless. By replacing the bulbs to a warm LED would change the living room into a cozier room. If it was me who could decide….I would change the colour of the main wall in the living room to all white.

I stayed in Ca' del Monastero with a close friend for three days in late September this year, my friend's first stay, my second in this evocative, beautiful, solidly renovated building in Santa Croce. We loved the security, the spotlessly clean apartment and common spaces, the comfortable, well furnished and well equipped rooms, the lovely outlook from our apartment, the easy walk to the Grand Canal, the local campo, supermarket, bakery, enoteca, the locals dancing tango in the campo on Tuesday evening, all within easy walking to San Marco, Dorsoduro, Castello...and yet away from the heaving crowds. Dreaming of returning soon and afraid my review will encourage too many tourists, the irony of modern day travel.
It would be helpful to be met with a sign at the vaporetto stop.

Thank you very much. We thought the apartment was wonderful and in a good location. The VOV brochure was interesting and informative. Marta was very thorough and helpful when she showed us the apartment (and we did try the mokka! thanks:) I have only two (very minor) suggestions: It would be good (especially since we were travelling with kids) to have some English language channels on the TV,perhaps some English language children's DVDs for the player. When checking out accommodation options in Venice, I first looked on trip advisor, but did not find reviews for you there. It might be worthwhile having a trip advisor 'presence' . No other commentssuggestions. Thanks for an excellent service! best wishes anand .

We loved everything about our stay at Ca' Del Monastero 2. From the start, the communication between the host and us was fast, smooth and thorough. Any question we had was quickly answered. Upon arrival, the very pleasant Francesca met us at the S. Stae vaporetto stop and walked us to the flat, which was barely a five minute walk. She gave us a very informative walk-thru of the apartment, a map of the city and a book filled with things to do, places to eat, shop, relax,etc... The flat is beautifully furnished and the kitchen is stocked with all of the essentials. The beds were comfortable, and there were plenty of extra blankets and pillows. The A/C worked wonderfully well. We really loved everything about the apartment. The location was great too. It is a little removed from the touristy parts of the city, which we loved, but really only a fiveten minute walk to sites like the Rialto Bridge. We highly recommend this flat to anyone visiting Venice!

Booking the apartment was very easy. Staff was always available and assisted throughout the process. When we arrived, we were met at the apartment by Cristina - a wonderful young lady. She was very helpful, informative, and made sure we were comfortable with all the appliances and amenities in the unit, and gave us her contact number before she left. The apartment was in an ideal location at the north end of the island, close to the Piazzale Roma, train station, and Grand Canal. It was a large apartment by European standards. It was well equipped for long stays, complete kitchen, and a washer/dryer were available on the lower level. The pictures on the website were accurate. Security was excellent with locking entrance doors into the building and heavy door and lock on the apartment. Very clean, well maintained, and quiet. For a two bedroom, two bath apartment, this is a great value. Dealing with the staff was a pleasure. Very eager to please the customer and make their visit to Venice a very positive, memorable experience. Much better than the hotels in which we've stayed in the past. We will definitely make our arrangements through this company when we return to Venice.

We were greeted by Christina at Campo San Zandegola where our water taci dropped us off just in front of the building housing the Monastero apartments. She gave us a thorough briefing on the workings of the apartment, especially explaining how to use the the kitchen equipment and the washer and dryer. The apartment was well-furnished and clean. When there was a problem with the wi-fi connection, it was promptly attended to by Christina, who explained what to do should the problem recur. The location of Ca' Del Monastero is perfect. Campo S. Giacomo Dell'Orio is a lovely neighborhood environment where families gather and children play. Coop supermarket is convenient for shopping, Gelato Di Natura has the most incredible walnut and fig gelato, and just across the Ponte del Megio is the wonderful restaurant La Zucca providing thoughtfully prepared food in an intimate setting, making every meal there an unforgettable experience. This was our third time to stay in apartments by VOV each experience has been wonderful. We hope to be back in the spring.

      NEW LISTING!

Hit those holiday high notes at new apartment Operetta,
So cute and well located you’re never ever gonna forget her!

Nestled within the same peaceful Dorsoduro property as the larger members of our hugely popular ‘Opera’ family of apartments (see the chic Ca’ Dell’Opera Terrace and gorgeous L’Opera Divina) and bookable separately or in conjunction with either (or even both!*), this deliciously cosy new addition will be music to the ears of seasoned visitors familiar with the most desirable parts of Venice.

Freshly attired in 2025/6 and boasting creature comforts aplenty, the dainty and delightful Operetta plays second fiddle to none!

Charmingly positioned in sleepy Campo degli Incurabili, near the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, the Accademia Galleries** (and our Grand Canal office!) and the Zattere’s spectacular canal views towards Giudecca, the apartment sleeps 4 guests in 2 bright and cheerful double bedrooms on the 1st floor of the building accessed by stairs.

Singing in perfect harmony with the design score of its ‘big sister’ apartments – imagine bespoke furnishings, impactful colours, tailored textiles and soft lighting – the elegantly understated Operetta offers Wi-Fi plus air-conditioning and an easy-going Venetian vibe throughout its 80sqm accommodation.

The perfect pied-à-terre for you and your partner, cherished chums or small family, and refreshingly free of the mass-produced faux-Venetian flourishes sometimes spotted about town, the apartment instead favours a rather simpler, refined aesthetic in ‘lateral-living’ accommodation comprising:

      Ground Floor

The building’s main entrance tucked away along the Ramo Dietro Agli Incurabili – note on your way, the wonderful stone-carved pair of statuettes of Christ (dated 1681) on the corners of the ‘Opera’ building at the head of the passageway – followed by 2 short flights of stairs (no lift) rising to Operetta’s entrance on the...

      1st Floor

Where we open the door to discover...

A characterful and warmly welcoming sitting / TV room in cool ‘salvia’ sage green, the colour contrasting beautifully with the wooden timbers overhead, traditional terrazzo flooring underfoot, and a deep crimson-velvet ivory-piped sofa set before a mixed media on canvas artwork by Elia Valentini (student at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Venezia) entitled ‘Grande Blu 1, 2025’ and purchased at the recent charity auction for Avapo Venezia

A spacious free-flowing open-plan dining room / kitchen space in deep pinky-red terracotta overlooking the west-facing Campo Incurabili to the fore, with beams overhead, fabulous wooden herringbone parquet flooring underfoot, a well-equipped contemporary kitchen in white (with washing machine / dryer) where you can crack open the Prosecco or rustle up a storm (if cooking with the super-fresh local ingredients is your bag!), plus a dining suite hosting 6 guests to the side and just the spot for some convivial downtime where you can all share stories of your Venetian adventures!

A restful principal double bedroom to the rear of the apartment dressed in sunny yellow and peacock blues and greens, and furnished with a beautifully upholstered double bed with can be split into twins upon request

An equally tranquil 2nd double bedroom to the side of the apartment, also in sunny yellow and with claret-velvet upholstered twin beds which can be made into a double upon request

And completing the accommodation on the opposite side of the apartment....

A simple modern bathroom in white with tiled shower

*Are you part of a larger group who’d like to stay together but in separate apartments? We offer 2 other apartments in the ‘Opera’ building: Ca’ Dell’Opera Terrace (sleeping 8) and L’Opera Divina (sleeping 10) with the 3 apartments combined hosting a maximum of 22 guests when reserved for exclusive use!

**Note that the Accademia Galleries close to apartment Operetta will be hosting Marina Abramović’s historic solo exhibition ‘Transforming Energy’ (6 May 2026 – 19 October 2026) during the Venice 2026 Art Biennale. She will be the first living woman artist to be honoured with a major solo exhibition at the Accademia in its 275-year history

      OUR COMMENT

A charming apartment championing pared-down Venetian appeal in one of our absolute favourite parts of town!

A short stroll to Campo San Vio on the Grand Canal and the Palazzo Cini Gallery to the west, the Church of the Salute and the Punta Della Dogana Center of Contemporary Art to the east, and close to a great choice of eating places and bars including Ai Gondolieri, Lineadombra and Ristorante Riviera for fine dining, and the popular Osteria Al Squero, Corner Pub and Cantinone Gia Schiavi for spritz and cicheti.

An easy walk to 4 vaporetto (water bus) stops – Zattere Spirito Santo, Zattere, Salute and Accademia for easy travel around the city (note that St. Mark’s Square can be reached by vaporetto from Salute in under 5 minutes on Line 1!), to 2 Conad supermarkets – one moments away just behind the Zattere Spirito Santo vaporetto stop and the other at the western end of the Zattere – and to the traghetto at Calle Lanza / Calle del Traghetto San Gregorio which, during operating hours, ferries passengers by gondola across the Grand Canal to the traghetto stop beside the Gritti Palace in the district of San Marco.

Also within easy reach of the Alilaguna boat stop connecting the Zattere to Venice's Marco Polo Airport.

Please note that the operation of air-conditioning and heating are subject to municipality regulation. In general, heating is available from mid-October to mid-April, while air-conditioning is available from mid-April to mid-October. Please contact us for further information.

Presenting you the keys to this 2-bedroomed Dorsoduro beauty… magically placed near the domes of Salute!

Mid-century modern in mood and giving onto the Rio Terà dei Saloni – a wonderfully evocative and peaceful tree-lined avenue linking the breathtaking Zattere waterfront to the glittering Grand Canal – apartment Ca’ Delle Vele sleeps 4 guests in a characterful setting of rough-hewn timbers, oak flooring and velvety Marmorino walls.

Situated in an area historically famous for the salt warehouses once found here and within a stone’s throw of the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, the Fondazione Emilio e Annabianca Vedova, the Punta Della Dogana Center of Contemporary Art and the ‘traghetto’ gondola ferry crossing the Grand Canal to the San Marco sestiere, Ca’ Delle Vele’s accommodation comprises:

      OUR COMMENT

A charming place to call home in an idyllic location where time seems to stand still, generation after generation…

A very short stroll via the wide Rio Terà dei Catecumeni to the magnificent votive Church of Santa Maria Della Salute and its breathtaking views over to the Campanile at San Marco… and peacefully positioned (except during the ‘Festa Della Salute’ which takes place on 21 November each year *** – please see below!)

Within steps of the popular little coffee shop / takeaway known as 60/40 – perfect for a morning cappuccino and pastry, a freshly squeezed juice, filled roll or a refreshing gelato or 3! (NB: only a small handful of bar stools available) – and within a short walk of the Accademia Galleries and Bridge (and the VOV office!), the Palazzo Cini Gallery and a variety of fine eating places and bars including Linea D’Ombra, Ai Gondolieri and Ristorante Riviera for fine dining and Corner Pub, Osteria Al Squero and Cantinone Gia Schiavi for panini / cicheti and spritz.

A scenic waterside stroll to the Conad supermarket at the western end of the Zattere and within easy reach of 4 vaporetto (water bus) stops – Zattere Spirito Santo, Zattere, Salute and Accademia – for travel around the city (note that St. Mark’s Square can be reached by vaporetto from Salute in under 5 minutes on Line 1!)

Also moments to the ‘traghetto’ at Calle Lanza / Calle del Traghetto S. Gregorio which, during operating hours, ferries passengers by gondola across the Grand Canal to the stand beside the Gritti Palace Hotel in the district of San Marco, and within easy reach of the Alilaguna boat stop connecting the Zattere to Venice's Marco Polo Airport.

*** One of the most moving and best loved of all Venetian events. Every year on the 21 November, Venetians make a pilgrimage to the plague church of Santa Maria Della Salute (St. Mary of Health) to pray to the Virgin Mary and to light candles, while gondoliers visit bringing their oars to be blessed. A pontoon bridge is built across the Grand Canal from Santa Maria Del Giglio over to the Salute and the huge doors of the church are opened to the city and its visitors, while the area close to Salute is busy with stalls selling candles, balloons and all manner of sweet temptations!
