    Description

‘The fortnight at Venice passed quickly and sweetly – perhaps too sweetly; I was drowning in honey, stingless.’ – Evelyn Waugh, Brideshead Revisited

The bewitching Grand Canal ‘piano nobile’ (noble floor) of the 13th-century Palazzo Barzizza, once a ‘casa-fondaco’ * nudging the Rialto district in San Polo.

Promising an idyllic sojourn of blissful luxury and anticipating your pure delight from behind its 5 extraordinary Byzantine arches described by 19th-century writer John Ruskin in his tome ‘The Stones of Venice’, this magical new apartment is a heavenly attired haven brimming with contemporary art, bespoke furnishings, sparkling Murano chandeliers and exquisite fabrics.

Bathed in limpid Venetian light and replete with traditional architectural elements including frescos, ornate gilt cornicing and traditional terrazzo flooring, the apartment sleeps 6 guests in 3 opulent en suite bedrooms, on the 2nd floor of the palazzo, reached by monumental stone stairs **.

Blessed with picture-perfect Grand Canal views towards the Rialto Bridge and illustrious palazzi taking in bell towers, rowing residents and sleek black gondolas galore, the piano nobile can be reached via a peaceful campiello (little Venetian square) to the rear or by private water taxi to the palazzo’s private dock to the fore.

Sharing this stretch of the famous waterway with the luxurious 5-star Aman Hotel (its spa, restaurant and bar are open to non-resident guests) and promising every creature comfort the choosy traveller expects, the fully air-conditioned *** apartment offers Wi-Fi and comprises:

Landside access via Palazzo Barzizza’s main communal entrance hallway, with stairs leading up to the piano nobile on the…

2nd Floor, where we open the doors to…

    A spacious entrance hallway

A guest bathroom (w.c. and wash basin)

A magnificent main central sitting room / salone sumptuously dressed in ravishing pink Rubelli silk walls with a pair of sprawling raspberry velvet sofas and a dining suite to the rear set against a beautiful Venetian backdrop of speckled terrazzo flooring and painted wooden beams, all lit by glittering chandeliers and the light streaming in from its leaded Grand Canal-facing windows

A second gorgeous sitting room with colourful ceiling fresco overhead, striking artwork all around, a bespoke Italian sofa and armchairs for lounging, and a pair of tall leaded windows on the Grand Canal to the fore which open onto little Juliet balconies

A modern kitchen with gold-and-grey-tone streamlined units, equipped with everything required including a washing machine / dryer, Magimix and Nespresso machine

The piano nobile’s 3 very special en suite double bedrooms comprising:

Situated the front of the palazzo and just off the main salone – a fabulously flamboyant and spacious principal bedroom in teal blue velvet and gold Rubelli silk with double bed, a pair of windows on the Grand Canal (one of which opens onto a bijou Juliet balcony), a mirrored backdrop / room divide and semi-separate modern bathroom with stand-alone bathtub and separate shower and w.c.

To the rear of the second sitting room – a peaceful and welcoming 2nd double bedroom with accents of ochre and terracotta, frescoed ceiling, a double bed and contemporary en suite bathroom with shower

To the rear of the principal bedroom and reached via the salone – a beautifully cosy twin bedroom in ochre and sandy shades with decorated beams, 2 single beds and a pristine en suite bathroom with shower

    * Casa-fondaco – a pre-16th Century / Medieval palace that acted as both a Venetian merchant’s home and workplace / warehouse (further examples include the 13th-century Ca’ da Mosto and Ca’ Loredan on the Grand Canal)

    ** Stairs (no lift)
*** Please note that the operation of air-conditioning and heating are subject to municipality regulation. In general, heating is available from mid-October to mid-April, while air-conditioning is available from mid-April to mid-October. Please contact us for further information.

    OUR COMMENT

A prestigious noble floor property with a fascinating history, beautifully renovated and presented with personality and pizzazz!
Wonderfully positioned between the Rialto area just to the north (with its famous food markets, bacari and tight network of little alleyways and bridges) and to the Dorsoduro district in the south (with its wide fondamente, antique shops and art galleries).

Within moments of all that’s happening in and around Campo San Polo, and a gentle amble to the 14th-century Church of the Frari and the Tintoretto-filled Scuola Grande Di San Rocco.

Close to 3 supermarkets - a small Coop near Sant' Aponal, a well-stocked Conad near the Frari, and a CRAI Cassa at Campo San Tomà - in addition to a plethora of shops, bars and cafes to satisfy all your self-catering needs.

Within a stone’s throw of some excellent local restaurants including the casual, parasol-shaded Birreria La Corte; the reassuringly old-school Alla Madonna; and the very famous and much-celebrated Antiche Carampane - the latter hidden deep within the silent and narrow winding alleyways but surprisingly close to your apartment… if you know the way! ;)

Also within easy reach of 2 vaporetto stops – particularly San Silvestro (very close and with no bridges to cross in between!) and San Tomà a little further away - and to the traghetto gondola ferry at San Tomà for trips across the Grand Canal to the must-see sights of the San Marco sestiere.

A graceful haven of gentility and tranquility with delightful garden views, peacefully situated to the rear of the 15th Century Gothic 'Palazzo Loredan Dell’ Ambasciatore' on the Grand Canal, with private water entrance. Considered one of the finest in Venice and oozing history from every pore, the Palazzo itself (birthplace of two ancient Doges of Venice - Leonardo Loredan (1501-21) and Francesco Loredan (1752-62)), enjoys a truly outstanding position between the Accademia Bridge/Academy of Fine Arts and the Ca’ Rezzonico Museum of 18th Century Art/ vaporetto stop, close to Campo San Barnaba and opposite Francois Pinault's Palazzo Grassi Museum of Modern Art.

Impeccably decorated with dash and vitality and featuring carefully selected antiques from the owner's private collection, each shown to their advantage against a complementary backdrop of sunny Mimosa yellows, vivid Prussian blues, crisp white beamed ceilings and the deep, rich patina of polished hardwood flooring, Ca' Cerchieri Mezzanine offers generously proportioned accommodation for six and is located between the first and second floors of the Palazzo (a lift can be taken to the second floor, leaving one flight of stairs to descend on foot).

It offers air-conditioning throughout plus wireless internet connection and features a stylishly elegant yet cosy and very comfortable living room with deep, luxurious sofas, interesting artwork and restful views over the owner's private walled garden, a separate dining room and a modern, well-equipped and fully-fitted kitchen.

There are three charming and quiet double bedrooms, each with garden views and each ensuring a heavenly night's sleep - two with beautifully embellished double beds and finished in cheerful colours (the master bedroom having an up-to-date en suite bathroom with bathtub and separate shower) and a pretty third bedroom with two chintz-covered single beds. The two further bathrooms (one with bathtub and the other with shower) are modern, spacious and immaculately presented. Please note that in order to accommodate a slightly larger party, access to a further bedroom (simple in design and with a single bed) is possible at a surcharge of 50.00 Euros per night.

Are you a part of a larger group who'd like to stay close together at the Palazzo? Other apartments available at this prestigious property (which played host to the New Zealand National Pavilion at the 54th Venice Art Biennale) include Ca' Cerchieri 1, Ca' Cerchieri Terrace and the spectacular Ca' Cerchieri Piano Nobile , Ca’ Cerchieri Loredan and Palazzo Loredan Grand Canal.

(To find out more about the history of Palazzo Loredan dell’Ambasciatore read this article by author Cat Bauer)

      OUR COMMENT

A tasteful and welcoming apartment for six, peacefully nestling within the ancient walls of one of the most beautiful and impressive palazzi in Venice. Private, perfectly located and minutes on foot to the cafes, bars, shops and restaurants of Campo San Barnaba and its neighbouring 'calli'.

In order to get the most out of your stay in Venice, don't forget to consult our 'About Venice' page for our very own insider's guide to things to do, places to see, where to shop and a whole lot more!

For arrivals between 8.00 p.m. and midnight there is an additional cost for "late arrival" of Euro 50, to be paid in cash upon arrival. A terrific penthouse, perfect for 6, up 'in the gods' of the impressive 15th-century Gothic 'Palazzo Loredan Dell’ Ambasciatore' on the Grand Canal in Dorsoduro…

… Enjoying breathtaking views from its 2 amazing terraces and superbly located between the Accademia Galleries/Bridge and the Ca’ Rezzonico Museum of 18th-century Venice, opposite the Palazzo Grassi Museum of Modern Art, and close to Campo San Barnaba.

Sitting on the 4th floor at the very top of one of the finest palazzi in Venice (indeed the birthplace of 2 Doges of Venice, Leonardo Loredan (1501-21) and Francesco Loredan (1752-62)) and benefitting from plenty of light and airiness as a result, Ca' Cerchieri Terrace offers private water access for stylish and fuss-free arrivals by private water taxi and is reached by lift to the 3rd floor, leaving one flight of stairs to ascend on foot.

In addition to a heavy sprinkling of fine period furnishings and quietly sophisticated touches, the apartment maintains an attractively casual, laid-back and unpretentious quality – ideal for settling in and feeling 'at one' with your fabulously Venetian and very aristocratic surroundings from the moment you arrive – while rich wooden flooring and independent air-conditioning throughout, Wi-Fi and a small laundry room with washing machine ensure that all the comforts and conveniences of modern living are at your fingertips for the duration of your stay.

Ideal for guests who’d like to sample the pleasures of refined palazzo living, accommodation comprises:

An elegant sitting room with comfortable seating and wide French windows opening onto a superb terrace (with seating space for 6) offering wonderful panoramic vistas over seemingly endless rooftops and bell-towers

A separate dining area seating 8

A fully-equipped kitchen/breakfast room with dapple-grey granite work surfaces, Grand Canal views and all the appliances one could possibly wish for, including a large fridge with icemaker, microwave and numerous coffee-makers to name just a few

There are 3 stylish bedrooms –

A beautiful master with a double bed and French windows opening onto a private terrace with mesmerising Grand Canal views to swoon over (impossibly romantic!) and its own en suite bathroom with bathtub

A 2nd double bedroom with double bed enjoying views towards the Accademia Bridge and the Peggy Guggenheim Collection (again with an en suite bathroom with bathtub)

A 3rd bedroom with twin beds (which can be made into a double bed – please ask when booking) and an en suite bathroom with bathtub and shower

A 4th hallway bathroom (with w.c. and shower) completes the apartment

Are you part of a larger group who'd like to stay close together but in separate apartments within this prestigious palazzo? Dimora Italia offers 2 further properties within Palazzo Loredan Dell’ Ambasciatore: the spectacular Ca' Cerchieri Piano Nobile (also known as Palazzo Loredan della Loggia) , Ca’ Cerchieri Loredan (also known as Palazzo Loredan degli Scudi) and Palazzo Loredan Grand Canal.

      OUR COMMENT

One of our absolute favourites and an all-round extraordinary property, offering comfort, space and spectacular views from an unrivalled position in one of Venice's loveliest areas.

Unreservedly recommended to those seeking an unforgettable added dimension to their experience of the city.
