The communication with Views on Venice really could not have been any better. They also arranged a water taxi for our 4am trip to the airport. This apartment was by far the best one we stayed at during our two week Italian vacation. |

I stayed in Ca' del Monastero with a close friend for three days in late September this year, my friend's first stay, my second in this evocative, beautiful, solidly renovated building in Santa Croce. We loved the security, the spotlessly clean apartment and common spaces, the comfortable, well furnished and well equipped rooms, the lovely outlook from our apartment, the easy walk to the Grand Canal, the local campo, supermarket, bakery, enoteca, the locals dancing tango in the campo on Tuesday evening, all within easy walking to San Marco, Dorsoduro, Castello...and yet away from the heaving crowds. Dreaming of returning soon and afraid my review will encourage too many tourists, the irony of modern day travel.

When checking out accommodation options in Venice, I first looked on trip advisor, but did not find reviews for you there. It might be worthwhile having a trip advisor 'presence' . We loved everything about our stay at Ca' Del Monastero 2. From the start, the communication between the host and us was fast, smooth and thorough. Any question we had was quickly answered. Upon arrival, the very pleasant Francesca met us at the S. Stae vaporetto stop and walked us to the flat, which was barely a five minute walk. She gave us a very informative walk-thru of the apartment, a map of the city and a book filled with things to do, places to eat, shop, relax,etc... The flat is beautifully furnished and the kitchen is stocked with all of the essentials. The beds were comfortable, and there were plenty of extra blankets and pillows. The A/C worked wonderfully well. We really loved everything about the apartment. The location was great too. It is a little removed from the touristy parts of the city, which we loved, but really only a fiveten minute walk to sites like the Rialto Bridge. We highly recommend this flat to anyone visiting Venice!

Booking the apartment was very easy. Staff was always available and assisted throughout the process. When we arrived, we were met at the apartment by Cristina - a wonderful young lady. She was very helpful, informative, and made sure we were comfortable with all the appliances and amenities in the unit, and gave us her contact number before she left. The apartment was in an ideal location at the north end of the island, close to the Piazzale Roma, train station, and Grand Canal. It was a large apartment by European standards. It was well equipped for long stays, complete kitchen, and a washer/dryer were available on the lower level. The pictures on the website were accurate. Security was excellent with locking entrance doors into the building and heavy door and lock on the apartment. Very clean, well maintained, and quiet. For a two bedroom, two bath apartment, this is a great value. Dealing with the staff was a pleasure. Very eager to please the customer and make their visit to Venice a very positive, memorable experience. Much better than the hotels in which we've stayed in the past. We will definitely make our arrangements through this company when we return to Venice.

This was our fourth stay in Venice with housing provided by Views on Venice, and our second stay in Monastero 2. We are fond of the location in Santa Croce, the proximity to Campo San Giacomo dell'Orio, the abundance of good restaurants and gelaterie, notably La Zucca and Il Refolo, and Gelato di Natura and San Stae. We always hope to be able to return to Venice, our favorite city, and we hope to book another stay with VOV.

It also had a washing machine & dryer. The apartment was close to the Grand Canal & also local supermarkets. It was just so central. We have used Views on Venice before & I would highly recommend them to anyone who asks. They are so professional & approachable & the apartments are 5 star quality. Our family has has another adventure in Venice & cannot wait to go back again, & we will use Views on Venice!!! Thank you for the memories....

We were greeted by Christina at Campo San Zandegola where our water taci dropped us off just in front of the building housing the Monastero apartments. She gave us a thorough briefing on the workings of the apartment, especially explaining how to use the the kitchen equipment and the washer and dryer. The apartment was well-furnished and clean. When there was a problem with the wi-fi connection, it was promptly attended to by Christina, who explained what to do should the problem recur. The location of Ca' Del Monastero is perfect. Campo S. Giacomo Dell'Orio is a lovely neighborhood environment where families gather and children play. Coop supermarket is convenient for shopping, Gelato Di Natura has the most incredible walnut and fig gelato, and just across the Ponte del Megio is the wonderful restaurant La Zucca providing thoughtfully prepared food in an intimate setting, making every meal there an unforgettable experience. This was our third time to stay in apartments by VOV each experience has been wonderful. We hope to be back in the spring.

Within minutes of the Accademia Bridge/Galleries, the Palazzo Cini Gallery and the Peggy Guggenheim Collection and just a few steps (via a short ‘sotoportego’) to the stunning Zattere promenade along the glittering Giudecca Canal, this evergreen apartment boasts 2 bedrooms/2 bathrooms, plus Wi-Fi and air-conditioning to keep you connected, comfy and cool.
Welcoming in ambience, timeless in decor and putting relaxation at the heart of the house, the ‘sleeps 4’ Ca’ Belle Arti is both cosy and stylish and comprises:
Ground floor
• A private front entrance leading directly into the apartment’s vestibule hallway with a handy laundry room equipped with a washing machine situated to the rear.
A short staircase rising up to the 1st (main) floor, where you’ll find:
• Attractively presented in co-ordinated neutral colours, a splendid open-plan main sitting room/kitchen/dining area offering plenty of space for everyone to be together and showcasing characterful wooden beams overhead, a pair of tall windows to the fore letting in plenty of light with custom-built cabinetry beneath, a series of sepia architectural wall-prints set above a squishy sofa and double sofa bed furnished with cushions galore, a compact yet fully-fitted kitchen with all the necessary appliances for easy self-catering, and a dining space with ample seating as part of the kitchen.
And just to the side of the main room:
• A bright and elegantly presented master bedroom with a tall beamed ceiling, a pair of windows facing the campo, warm wooden flooring underfoot to match that of the sitting room, a walk-in wardrobe, a comfortable double bed (which can be made into twins upon request) and an en suite bathroom with modern shower.
While tucked away peacefully to the rear of Ca’ Belle Arti sits:
• The masterfully upgraded 2nd bedroom ¬– more ‘bijou’ than the master – charmingly decked out in restful eau-de-nil and furnished with a custom-built single wardrobe to each side of its well-dressed double bed.

A much-loved apartment with a very loyal following, newly renovated and peacefully placed in one of Venice’s most select residential locales (and situated right at the foot of the sleepy little calle where, in a scene from the classic 1955 must-watch David Lean film ‘Summertime’, Katharine Hepburn and her street urchin companion laugh as they cool themselves down in the waters of the neighbourhood fountain!)
Close to the Church of the Gesuati (Santa Maria del Rosario), the Church of Santa Maria Della Salute, the Punta Della Dogana Museum of Contemporary Art and to a great choice of eating places including the well-reviewed Ristorante Agli Alboretti approaching the Accademia Bridge via the avenue of Oleander that is the Rio Tera Foscarini; the famous gelataria Da Nico; the popular and long-standing Trattoria Ai Cugnai and Corner Pub; the Osteria Al Squero and Cantinone Gia Schiavi - Al Bottegon (both perfect for spritz and ‘cicheti’); the upscale Ai Gondolieri behind the Guggenheim and the equally upscale Ristorante Riviera overlooking the Zattere; or for something simpler, Oke with its mind-boggling variety of eat-in or takeaway pizza.
